Adorable. For only 6 minutes this is packed full of heart. It’s story line is about a very cute little Sandpiper chick, that’s not quite ready to face the world but finds a way through. It’s so sweet and funny in so many innocent ways. No spoken words just natural sounds and bird calls. This is a Pixar short, that fronted Finding Dory in the theaters. When I saw it in the theater, I was so delighted, the first thing I though was, I hope they put that out on a DVD because I’d buy it right now. And…

This Bird is the Word Perhaps one of the best shorts from Pixar in a very long time. No dialogue, just music and a simple, yet thoughtful story—a sandpiper chick facing its fears. And growing up. What’s incredible here, other than the darn cute little piper, is the amazing detail even down to the individual grains of sand. Pixar animators went to great lengths to observe these little birds in their native habitat. The birds’ behavior are captured faithfully. Kelp, barnacles, and the California coast are represented…
